Rawalpindi is one of famous city of Pakistan there was need to have autonomous body of education therefore government established an educational board that is called BISE Rawalpindi board stands for Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education. It was established in October 1977 it was actually formed as a result of bifurcation of BISE Sargodha board under Punjab Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education ACT NO XIII of 1976. Main purpose of the board is to provide students with quality education and fair policy under which examination are supposed to be conducted. Rules and regulations are provided by the board are in favor of students, parents and other people related to board.

Board requires no aid from government its self-financed authority with its own resources. Objective of the board is to conduct examination of Secondary certificate, Intermediate certificate, classical languages and other examination decided by authority government. Source of income for the board is just from examination fees and other fees from candidates no other burden on students and parents. Rawalpindi board is confined to following jurisdiction districts Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Rawalpindi that is civil division of district.

There are many people working hard day and night to run administration of board, it includes Chairman, Secretary, Controller of Examination and Audit Officer with other officers. Head masters for affiliated colleges and schools. There are many government and private schools affiliated with board and many students get a facility to appear as regular students and other as private students. Admissions for examination start two months before the examination start either of SSC that is 10th class or of HSSC that is 12th class. Examination schedule is also different for both SSC and HSSC. Examinations of matric are held in month of March and for Intermediate in month of April.Text books used are also authentic one those are published by Punjab Text book board and editions are revised time to time. Syllabus and subjects are as per prescribed by government groups at matric level are science and arts for intermediate groups are pre-medical, pre-engineering, computer science, commerce, general science and arts.

Result is evaluated within 3 months therefore result for matric is declared by month of July and for intermediate is by the month of August.
