This board was formed in October 1977 and its head office is also located in Rawalpindi, this board was formed under Punjab board of secondary education ACT NO XIII of 1976. This board was actually established as bifurcation of Sargodha board. Objective of the board is to conduct examination for 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11thand 12th class examination and providing students with certificates at the end of annual examination. Punjab education commission was formed by the government of Punjab in the year 2005 this is responsible for conducting examination for 5th and 8th class board examination. These examinations by the board are conducted in different languages Urdu, English and other classical languages.
