Rawalpindi board was established in the year 1977 as board of intermediate and secondary education Rawalpindi it is abbreviated as BISE. Actually Rawalpindi is the largest city and population there is increasing time to time people therefore require quality education. Therefore by the government Rawalpindi board was officially established in October 1977 it was formed under the Punjab board of secondary education ACT NO XIII of 1976. It is actually formed as bifurcation of Sargodha board initially it was part of Sargodha board. Rawalpindi board is spread so vast that its jurisdiction consists of following areas districts Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Rawalpindi that is civil division of district.

Main objective of the board is to conduct examination for 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th class examination and providing students with certificates. Punjab education commission was established in the year 2005 and it is responsible for monitoring and controlling examination of 5th and 8th class. There are many government and private institutions are affiliated with the board and working on terms and rules by the board. It is policy of the board that 9th class and 11th class students are must to be registered by the following board.

Intermediate consist of two parts part I and part II, part I is 1st year and part II is 2nd year that is higher secondary school certificate. Examination for intermediate are conducted in the month of May and June. Registration for examination is conducted in the month of February and these forms are provided online and also posted to the affiliated colleges. Roll number slips and date sheet for examination are provided in the month of March after that examination start and are conducted in the month of April and May. Many million students wait for students and this is announced in the month of July and august. After results students are provided with scholarships and prizes who got top positions.

By the board another facility is also provided to students that is of model papers and past papers as they let students find out their weak points and as some questions are repeated in upcoming examinations. Subjects and groups of intermediate are some different and difficult these consist of pre medical, pre engineering, commerce, general science, computer science and arts.
